Jarvo Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hi, I recently upgraded my PC by 2gbs of ram. It seems to run a bit faster but not as fast as I thought it might have. My specs are; Windows xp AMD Athlon 64 processor 3700+, MMX, 3d Now,. 2.2GHZ 3006mb ram ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series - graphics card MSI AMETHYST-M 1.0 - motherboard I was wondering if I could upgrade this even more so I can play games at good speeds and good graphics and what I would need to spend and buy to achive this. Or would it just be worth buying a new one. I'd rather upgrade this one if its cheaper :) If you need anymore info just ask. Thanks Quote
Tootech Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Hi, I'm not a gamer so I can't offer any guide as to what games will run at what res on what system, but I can tell you that your board will take up to a 4000+ CPU, which isn't much faster than you have, and also it is a Socket 939 board which is getting on now. Being Windows XP it should be reasonably speedy, and you could add a video card say like a GT200 to give you some more video grunt. Is it worth it? Don't spend too much on it, is what I think. Post your gaming wishes and someone should be able to help you further. Quote

I want to play games such as Total War, football manager etc. Quote
kevh Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Hi Jarvo You also need to check Power supply type and size ,and if mobo has pci x16 slot or older AGP slot. I would guess a newer GPU would do a reasonable job on that syatem but nothing like a new modern system.
