Guest netbeui Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 what are the differences between anonymous and guest? Do they belong to Builtin "Users" group?
Guest Marcin Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Re: what are the differences between anonymous and guest? To begin, Anonymous Logon is an example of well-known security principal assigned automatically to null sessions - which you cannot configure using standard account management methods (e.g. enable/disable, modify group membership, etc.) Guest, on the other hand, is an account (disabled by default) that is configurable in the same manner as any "standard" user account... In addition, while both Guest and Anonymous were included in Everyone group in Windows 2000-based AD, that's not the case in Windows Server 2003/XP SP2 (with Anonymous falling out of its scope) In Windows Server 2003, Guest is also no longer a member of Authenticated Users (which is included in domain Users)... hth Marcin
