Quick Licensing Question

Hi Guys,

Just a Quick question here.

If I have 6 TS Servers (located in 6 different countries) and a Licensing

server per country (which i dont think I actually need!) where each TS Server

resides.... all in one global AD... and 150 users, that could connect to any

of the TS Servers (more than one at a time if they like), does this mean I

need 150 TS User CALS each per licensing server (so 900 TS USER CALS in all)

? - I dont know why they have done this...

Surey it would make sense to hook all 6 TS Servers to 1 Licensing Server

(that is reachable by all TS Servers) and be done with 150 TS USER CALS in

total on this one licensing server...All 150 Users should still be connect to

all 6 servers at once if they so please to do so... no?

A confused Lozza....

Re: Quick Licensing Question

True.

You can one License Server, pointed to by all TS. And this License Server

has 150 CALs installed.

Re: Quick Licensing Question

So, this will allow all 150 users to access all 6 servers if they please do

so, at once?

My only concern here is then, what will happen if the TSLS goes down... ?

Re: Quick Licensing Question

Yes.

A TS User CAL gives the users the right to connect to an unlimited

amount of Terminal Servers.

Re: Quick Licensing Question

excellent... thanks Vera... have also done some reading....

Seems in this case and most cases, I can make do with 2 TSLS's as opposed to

6!!, split the TS USER CALS 50-50 on each server (and point all TS Servers to

both TSLS's) and if one ever fails... ensure it is back up and running

generally within a day or so... should limit the denying of user sessions...

I;m hoping my understanding is correct here...

Re: Quick Licensing Question

Yes, 2 Licensing Servers gives you redundancy, but more than 2 is

unneccessary.
