can't execute files over network

Hi,

I have a user on an NT domain (XP SP2 client) who can't execute any files

located on any network shares. She can create files and delete files in

those shares, but not run any executables. The error message is "Windows

cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the

appropriate permissions to access the item."

The shares are mostly on 2003 member servers.

I even tried giving her Domain Admin rights but that made no difference!

I also noted that when she logs on to a PC with Office 2003 installed, the

installation wizard runs, but doesn't show any options or dialog boxes, ie

it runs in the background.

I would like for her to be able to run an application installed on the

network.

Any help is gratefully received.

Thanks,

SW

Do you have IE 7 enhanced security installed/enabled on the XP SP2 client?

Are all UNC network paths included in the Local Intranet IE zone?

Hi Marcin,

No, it's IE6. I think it's a profile corruption issue, I'm going to try

deleting the profile and build a new one. The other users who run the same

app don't have any problems like this.

Best Regards and thanks for your help,

Steve

If you take a look at the properties of those executables, is there an

"unblock" button shown there?

Hi,

No, it was a corrupted profile. All is OK after I deleted it.

Thanks,

Steve
