Guest Richard Price Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Hi, To save time and network copying, I decided to put together a full 'install set' for our servers on a little external USB2 disk - just stuff like all the .Net Framework installers, IE7 updater etc However, I seem to almost randomly run into servers that have issues with accessing these files - they can see the disk just fine, they can see the files just fine, but try and run any of the executables and I get the following error: 'Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item' No matter what permissions I give them, I get the above error. I have even copied the files to the servers local drive, and *still* get the above error. I cant fathom it. Thoughts? Cheers Richard
Guest Richard Price Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Re: External Disk Permissions I have now fixed this - it was the IE Enhanced Security Configuration that was causing the issues.

I had a similar issue. Also how do you access the usb drive from the pcs?

I simply removed it from the server (probably not the best idea) via Add/Remove Programs. As for accessing the drive, it shows up in My Computer as per any other drive. Richard
