Iker Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Hi everyone, i would like you to give me some advice about video cards. Now i have the ATI RADEON X800 PR0 256MB, but you know, nowadays the agp bus cards are dissappearing meanwhile the pci express is going up. I want to increase the perfomance of my pc, not only in games but also in general. My PC: AMD ATHLON K8 3400+ ASUS 8KV-X ATI RADEON X800 PR0 256MB Agp 8x 1 Gbyte DDRAM pc3200 The problem.... When i run videogames (HALF-LIFE 2, DARK MESSIAH, DOOM 3, STALKER and so on....) i suffered small stops of the game that i want take away. While there is not a lot of things in the game, any explosion, lots of enemies...etc the games run quite well, but at that moments suddenly the game stops and the hard drive works....2s later everything continues, i hate it I have thought about... ...buying the ATLHON 3700+ (only 300Mhz more isnt worth it , is it?) ...buying the Nvidia GeForce 7800 GS AGP 8x (that seems to me a very good idea, i read is the most powerfull video card of agp) ...buying another DIMM of 1Gbyte DDRAM (i think this is the most neccesary stuff) i cant afford to buy everything, so i wondered if you could help chosing the more interesting stuff, please Thanks a lot Iker Quote
Boomshanka Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 your setup sound good mine is MSI K7n2 delta ilsr AMD XP Barton 2800+ ATI X700 1.7 gb ddr 400 ram 80gb sata the only thing i could say is how big is your power supply and is your prossesor maxing out (task manager) go for at least a 550w psu at least 1.5 gb ram and check to see if your mobo is ok dont bother with vista yet untill crysis is relesed see how hot your running (bios) "under 60'c" my next move will be a 64bit prosessor but thats a whole new pc realy you can get 512mb fx cards like the x1950 xtx for agp but if your pc is stalling in games id check the drivers for my cards and download direx9 again i had stalling in dawn of war for ages untill i did some driver checks hope this helps dude take it easy Quote
