Hi

I'm running XP service pack 3 ,I have quite a tricky problem ,I lost everything on my laptop back to factory settings ,well I managed to retrieve/ re-install everything except my estimating software that bought a few years ago now.

when I try to re-install at the unlock code window it say's UNLOCK CODE IS INVALID well I was under the impression once you bought the software you could use these codes to re-install the program as and when required , anyway there's no way in this economic climate that I can buy new estimating software , so here's hoping some you guy's can help me get mine up and running again .

The unlock system may well generate some kind of internal key when you install, so on each install you would need to unlock the software with a different code - even though it is installed on the same system.

You need to get hold of the software writers I'm afraid.

Here is the big question

can you get in touch with the company that originally wrote the software. or can you remember the name of it.

sorry i'm having difficulty replying every time i type something in it says I haven't got permission and tells me to log in again (beginners eh!)

Unfortunately the company I bought the software from Construction Software Services of Cleethorpes has ceased trading also the author of files in the programme Bit Art of Nottingham has gone the same way , when I bought the software I had to give them the 8 digit serial number on the unlock window and they gave me the 24 digit unlock code over the phone

Unfortunately this is where the problem probably is. if the software is trying to contact a web site that isn't there any more your not going to get very far unless you know a university graduate with a degree in software engineering or similar.

I found this under the one name, don't know if they have any connection with the original company, but a phone call is a phone call and a lot cheaper than buying new software

CONSTRUCTION SOFTWARE SERVICES LTD, CLEETHORPES, , PROFILE HOUSE/3 WARDALL ST

as for Bit Art that seems to be a ghost, and I can't find it mentioned any where.

Yeah! Construction Software Services Profile House Wardle Street Cleethorpes is where I dealt with when I bought the software as I mentioned previously they have ceased trading , I also tried to contact Mike Gallagher the manager at the time who I dealt with,to no avail . As for Bit Art of Nottingham I found quite a lot of information on them on the internet ,unfortunately they have ceased trading also ,they are the authors of a pesky Active X file S6NonCK.ocx which was causing error339 in my estimating software , I found a patch for that free to download at Kart Gridder ,if that's any use to anyone else?

Anyway looks like the damn unlock codes is going to beat me ,I have been on a quest for over a year now ,only just found you guy's , and it renewed my enthusiasm .

Thanks for all your help Bye for now

Sorry I completely missed one of the points you raised I don't think my estimating software contacts a website to unlock ,I have it all on installation and update disc's , when it was unlocked I read a serial number shown on the unlock window and they dictated a 24 digit unlock code over the phone I was on dial up then so I wouldn't have even been connected to the internet .

Hope that clears up that little misunderstanding
