Do you have a recovery partition? Or have you just tried disks. Try pressing F10 when booting up.

I thought I knew today...I'll try again tomorrow. :)

I'm confused as to what brand of computer you have.

What disks are you using, hp or PB?

Ok lets try a few things.

Test the monitor on another computer or laptop.

Restart the computer and repeatedly tap F8 and test last known good config or safe mode,do you get the same overlap?

Have you tried entering BIOS/Setup and do you still then get the overlap?

Have you tried a diffrent monitor cable?

The exact error message would be a big help. It might point to hard drive or graphics problems for example.

Have you looked in Device Manager for any problems?

Since this is an hp I might add that you might have hp diagnostics built in such as HP Solutions Center or HP Support Assistant. Options vary by model.

Anyway I'm going to supply a few links in case anyone needs them.

Hi

Just want some info to clear things up where things are now:

1. Does the monitor show the picture correct in the BIOS?

2. Can you boot into windows normally?

3. Can you boot into Safe mode?

Try using a different graphics card or use the onboard graphics if you have it and see if that makes a difference.

Can you perhaps borrow a card to see if it solves the problem?
