How often should a DC be backed up?

 

One admin at my company says we only need to backup one DC and if any others

fail then we reinstall them and DCPROMO them from a another DC.

 

I'm thinking I want a complete backup of each DC at least once a week. I

would like to have a system state everyday and may do that to disk.

 

Do all DC's need to be backed up - or just one. How often is often enough?

That depends mainly on how dynamic your environment is and what is tolerance

of your management/users regarding amount of data that would be lost due to

such events as database corruption or site wide disaster. SLA/expected

recovery window/network topology/bandwidth between sites would need to be

considered when deciding how many DCs you want to back up...
