When looking at the list of temporary internet files, I notice there is a

"last modified" column with various dates listed. Some of the dates are

recent, some are old. What do these dates tell me?

That you should clean out the temporary Internet file folder more often.

There is a tick box in advanced to delete them when you close the browser.

That doesn't answer my question. I do delete the temporary internet files,

but happened to notice the various dates in that column and want to know if

the dates shown are telling me that I modified something in that particular

website or if it is a modification by the website.

That's the last time that file was modified (at the site). If you go back

IE checks that date and loads from cache if the one on the Internet is not

newer. Of course IE may not check every time, depending on you settings.

Bob

That still leaves Cookies and Favourites in the folder to justify the

question.

Justified isn't the issue as much as what is the "real" question.

Strictly reading the question as posed, is rather nonsensical.
