i am trying to resurrect my sons desktop (not been used for 12 months as he now uses a laptop) which runs on Vista.

the machine has been reset to factory settings but now wont install all the updates. when i switch the machine on it searches for updates and finds 42. when i try to install them, it gets to about number 39 (after about 30mins) then says it failed to install all the updates and needs to restart, after restart i get a prompt that tells me to go to a restore point (there arent any) or reset to factory settings (done). this is now just a continuing cycle. does anyone have any ideas how i can run the updates successfully?

Hi

What Service Pack is it on now?

Try downloading SP3 and install that.
