Disabling Vista's Start Menu Search Bar

... as in the title, anyone know how?

 

Been bugging the crap out of me for months now, and even Rafael (of UXTheme fame) is stumped on the matter :O

 

Just wondering if anyone here had any insight into a possible removal method?

 

For those of you sitting there scratching your heads and going, "why would he want to do that?" It's because I'm SO used to just hitting the Windows key, then the first letter of the pinned application I want to run, that now the Vista search just makes the entire experience much slower overall. On Vista, I actually have to hit the Windows key, type "inter", wait for the search bar to catch up, and THEN hit enter in order to open IE.

 

I'm not the only one who this bothers, so anyone who figures out a solution would be doing a lot of people a BIG favor :P
