Message: My computer returned a critial stop message to me today 3/4/2008.

So on that message I was asked to send the report to Microsoft, which I did

at around 5 pm. EST. The message stated it might be due to a new driver, I

haven't installed any drivers recently. The last one was a driver for a

microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse about 6 weeks ago. I have been trying

to run a system resore, when I'm in the sys. restore wizard, the March

calendar is up with today's date. When I try to go to the previous month by

clicking on the left arrow, nothing happens...As if there were no previous

restore points! That is impossible, The system restore memory setting is set

to the max 12%. HELP!!!!!! I Currently run XP Home Edition sp2, (Build

2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr_.070227-2254: service pak 2)

A copy of the Stop Error Report would be helpful.

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by

allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on

the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced,

Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before

Automatically Restart.

Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure until you have

resolved the problem. Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

What are your anti-virus and anti-spyware arrangements? What firewall?

Hope this helps.

Re: HELP! Critical Stop Issue: Now can't run sys. Restore before y

The error codes 00000050 parameter 1 f8ca7bc9, parameter 3, 805719cb,

parameter4, 00000000. I looked for this on the microsoft help website but

couldn't find it. I'm using the antivirus supplied by my cable modem service

provider. I'm using the microsoft firewall.

Do you have any idea why my system restore shows no restore points earlier

than yesterday?

iBackground information on Stop Error message

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms793437.aspx

0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)

Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was

referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video

RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus

software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems

(e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).

Remove the dust bunnies and test the RAM memory

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Tshoot

Check the hard drive for bad sectors by running chkdsk /f /r

Check the System log of Event Viewer for Error Reports.

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the

System log in Event Viewer for the last boot. No Information Reports or

Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,

Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double

click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a

button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event

Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of

the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from

Event Viewer.

Are there any yellow question marks in Device Manager? Right click on

the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties,

Hardware,Device Manager. If yes what is the Device Error code?

Try Start, Run, type "sigverif.exe" without quotes and hit OK. What

drivers are listed as unsigned? Disregard those which are not checked.
