Hi

I have recently managed to recently reinstall windows xp on my EI systems e314. i downloaded all the graphics and sound drivers on the tech guys website (pc world technical support website) and everything is working except for one thing.

In my device manager list, there seems to be a problem or error with my SM bus controller, u know, a yellow exclaimation mark next to it, i click on it and it just says there are no drivers installed for this device. i have used the internet to seek help and its something to do with my chipset that i am using, now i downloaded a utility to try to determine what chipset i was using from intel but it says i don't have an intel chipset on my system.

any ideas, how can i fix this problem? i am trying to run football manager but every so often it freezes, i thought i was the game but it does it whilst i am surfing the net.

any one know what chipset i am using or how i can find out?

ok, this is the following details that aida32 showed me:

Motherboard Properties

Motherboard ID 09/05/2006-RC410-SB450-6A665FKAC-00

Motherboard Name Unknown

Front Side Bus Properties

Bus Type Intel NetBurst

Bus Width 64-bit

Real Clock 200 MHz (QDR)

Effective Clock 800 MHz

Bandwidth 6400 MB/s

on ebay, someone is selling exactly the same pc that i have, and he/she has listed the motherboard as a Foxconn P4M9007M, i believe that is correct.

does that help?

ok.

try running check disk on your hard drive, right click the c:\ drive then click properties then tools then error- checking.

also try defragging the hard drive, and running all anti virus scans etc.
