File locking - server 2003

Hello,

 

I have a strange issue whereby a user will open a file, work on it and then

close it. The user then tries to delete the file and gets the dreaded

"Cannot delete file or folder error - It may be in use or write protected.".

 

The file is located on a file share on a server 2003 file server and the

user has full permissions on the file and share respectively.

 

This issue occurs sporadically on a multitude of file types but always the

same machine / user. I have even tried the good old reformat and reinstall

on the client and the deletion and re-creation of the user account but to no

avail.

 

Strangely enough the open file does not appear in the file server mmc

snap-in. The only way to delete the files is to reboot the client and close

all sessions on the server.

 

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
