My son is abroad for a week and has taken his laptop with him to download their photos etc. All has been well for 2 days, but suddenly his pc has a blank screen. Cannot get rid of it. Can very very vaguely see his desktop picture but that's all. Has removed battery and replaced it again - nothing, has charged it - nothing, all sorts of things .... anyone have any suggestions please?

Thanks

Hi, as Match said, the backlight tube or the controller for it has gone duff. Considering he is away from home he may be able to find a repairer who can replace the backlight, it is possible without a complete replacement of the screen.

Nev.

I have installed Windows, now how do I install the curtains? 😄

I'd say its more likely to be the inverter - laptops tend not to have a separate backlight, it is built into the LCD panel.

The inverter can be changed by removing the front bezel of the screen and often it is sat at the bottom connected by two sets of wires.

Probably cost you about £40 UK money, with a £30 ish fitting charge.
