KD59 Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Hello all, I'm very computer illitirate so go easy on me. (if this post is in the wrong place, applogies, no flaming necessary :)). Ok, so, a little over a year ago my PC (a Fujitsu Siemens Cordant) crashed and would refuse to load anything past the 'loading windows XP' screen, I believe it was an infinite loop or something. Due to financial constrains I just used my family computer instead. Recently I discoverd the boot discs for that compouter, started it up followed the procedure and boom! it worked all my old files etc.. so filled with nostalgia I began surfing through my old computer when bang everything goes very colourfull...just big vertical lines of colour, even on start up I cant see anything other than big vertial lines of colour.. One of my friends suggested it was either the monitor or the graphics card, monitor works fine with other PC's..so any ideas would be appreciated...if it is the graphics card could someone point me in the right direction of getting a new one that's compatible, I dont need anything amazing just something that works and is cheeper than buying a whole new computer... Thanks guys! Quote
Jelly Bean Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 Hello and welcome. Yes it appears your graphics card is damaged. If you could post the make and model of the computer or the mainboard that would help us to help you with a choice of new graphics card. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
KD59 Posted February 9, 2010 Author Posted February 9, 2010 Hii, Ok, so I hope this is what you mean, on the mainboard it says GA-8ISXT-FS Rev 1.0. Thanks for the help. Quote
maynardvdm Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Hi That motherboard uses an AGP slot for the graphics card. So you will need an AGP graphics card.
