microsoft.net\framework\v114322 shadow folders filling hard drive?

apparently the link I folloed to these boards originally sent me to the media

center area, and Bob was kind enough to make sure I knew I was in the wrong

place... thanks bob... so anyway... repost from media center...

ok... i was working on an XP machine earlier that a user had filled the hard

drive on... it has dot net 2.0 running on it for quick books 2008. Using

spacemonger I found that the biggest chunk of space on her hard drive was in

microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322 where it had created tons of folders that

were named shadow### with ### being 3 digit numbers. This obviously appears

to be part of dot net but can someone tell me what is running that is

creating them and if they can be deleted? Searched google and most the info

I find is about shadow copy... I did find 2 posts on 2 different boards

fromt he same guy asking about the same thing on a 2K server... but he didn't

get any responses.

TIA

Could be 4 digit numbers as well.

These folders are created while installing .NET Framework 1.1 Updates.

"Tons" of folders may or may not be created when these updates fail.

These folders can be safely deleted if you do not intend to uninstall

those updates. However, you may want to move them to a temporary folder

first in order to see if there are any problems.

Thanks d-d

She was indeed having issues with an update and it turns out it was dot net

1.1 SP1.
