My Fujitsu Esprimo desktop PC 5905 (recently bought used) shows a non-existenrt driver for 'Video Controller (VGA compatible)'. I tried downloading this from 'Fujitsu downloads' but couldn't find it there. Many attempts to download from Google search sites were unsuccessful. The OS is Windows XP Home. Please help.

Also the device manager shows there is no driver for the 'SM Bus Contoller'. I don't know what this does. How can I get this?

On booting, the screen sticks at the initial Fujitsu page. But on powering off and then immediately repowering it continues to boot OK. Anybody knows why this happens?

No--a freeze on booting from scratch--no processes running. But booting OK on second powering attempt.

64Gb free hard disk space from 74 Gb available.

Any suggestions as to how to get the driver for Video Controller (VGA compatible) and for SM Bus Controller?

Pc is Esprimo E5905 with 1GB ram , 3.2 Ghz speed 80GB hard drive

What's SM Bus controller?

There might be drivers at the Intel site which is what I think you have. The Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility might also be useful.

Fujitsu Downloads

Click on Drivers and Downloads on the left.

Enter Esprimo E5905 in the search box.

Select your operating system.

Tic the circle.

It doesn't look like you can but scroll down with the scroll bar on the web page not your browsers scroll bar.

Click Graphic.

Click on the driver you need which I think is Intel 82945G (Onboard on D2164-A1x)

The first one on the list is the newest one.

Click Download.

Many thanks again Randyl for all your useful help.

I didn't know how to start a new thread.

I managed to download the Intel 82945G Express Chipset. It said 18 days left for end of license. The device manager is now showing a working Display adapter. Is this worth buying?

I also downloaded Intel ChipUtil325.exe but there appeared to be a problem running this. The device manager still shows a question mark against 'SM Bus Contoller' altho' this item has been moved from 'other devices to 'Display'. Is it worth pursuing this feature?

Please let me have comments.

There shouldn't be an end to license on those graphics drivers.

The utility may not run on all systems.

Try running the Intel Driver Update Utility.

Many thanks Randyl. I managed to update the graphics driver thro' the Intel site as you suggested but 'SM Bus Controller' still has a question mark in 'Device manager'. I presume this is not too important an issue?

'SM Bus Controller' still has a question mark in 'Device manager

Go back to Device Manager and right click over the SM Bus, update the driver and allow Windows to connect to the Internet to find the driver - it might pick it up from there.

I tried this several times but it says wizard can't install this hardware. Never mind. I'll forget this issue. Thanks anyway Randyl.
