Using the Motion Eye Camera on Sony Vaio

Im using a Sony Vaio with a built in Motion Eye camera. I was wondering if you can use this camera as an independant video camera to capture clips to edit, rather than just a webcam in Messenger/Skype. Do i need a seperate or 3rd party program? Ive tried to find any useful programs on my computer and had a search on Google but havnt found anything (obviously) useful. Any help would be great.

Yes it can be used in this way just press the capture button to the right of the TRs display.

 

The cam can be used in three diffrent ways,Still,Movie,Web Camera.
