Explorer.exe Hanging

We've had a few PC's recently with a funny problem. All applications on the

computer work but the taskbar and start menu stop functioning. They are still

visible but there is no response from clicking on a task or the start button.

 

Launching task manager then clicking "File" "New Task" and typing

explorer.exe seems to resolve the problem.

 

Has anyone got any idea what could be causing the issue?

See if the same problem also occurs in windows safemode.If didnt Perform

system restore to the nearest working restore point.
