printing on server 2003 x64

I am migrating from a 5 year old server 2003 x86 server to new server 2003

x64 server. I am running in to a problem loading the print drivers. The

client machines are all xp pro x86 machines. I've tried installing the x 64

version of the print drivers as well as the x86 version. None of them will

install. They either tell me that this is the wrong hardware platform or that

the driver needs to be installed from a remote machine.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks,

See if the information at

http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/AddDrivertoOldOS.htm is any help. Although

this page is addressing "older versions", it applies whenever there are

platform differences.

The printing related newsgroups might provide better help - e.g.

microsoft.public.windows.vistat.print_fax_scan and

microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax.

Since the server is 64 bit, you would add the printer and use the 64 bit

drivers for the printer on it. Then add the 32 bit drivers as Additional

Drivers, which will quite likely have to be done from a 32 bit windows

installation using the technique described on the page referenced above.

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
