I think Starbuck is going to say that you are running two AV's. That's a recipe for problems.
That's very true. As the CA eTrust AV was probably part of the reinstall, i'd go along with RandyL's suggestion and get rid of it and keep Avira.

The Java version you have is the correct one, so no need to update that.

Adobe Reader 7.0

Out of date Adobe Reader installed!

You can update this here:

Adobe Reader 9.3

The screen resolution problem may have been caused because originally XP had a default resolution of 800x600. ( this was set to accommodate the screens around at that time.)

Newer monitors now have different resolutions.

If you are unsure how to change it, take a look here:

Have you tried resetting the resolution?

the higher the numbers.... the smaller the text/image size on your screen.

Mine is set for 1360 x 768 ... that's a nice size for me.

i use 2 monitors 19" and 17" .... size works well on both.

It's ok, it's just a glitch ... the author has to fix that.

Java 6 Update 18 is the latest version.

Btw: you can just right click on the 'Security Check' icon and select delete.

It doesn't actually install on your system.
