ingham Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Help My favourite game has stopped working. I have tried to uninstalling it from the add and remove programs but it won't let me. Tried manually deleting what looks like the relevant files and reinstalling , also didn't work. Tried add and remove program in safe mode, nope that also did not work. Tried system restore that made it worse now it wont run at all! an ATI.exe file was said to be missing. Plus another error message, but can't remember what that one said now. Is there any hope? Quote

ingham Posted February 15, 2010 Author Posted February 15, 2010 uninstalling problem Hello and welcome. Try this: CCleaner - Home hi I've seen this program recommended but I have also read warnings about using them, what is your view? EI Quote
muppet rebecca Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 As far as programs go CCleaner is one of the best. You should really give it a go. It's one of those miracles that doesn't really harm your pc in any way yet it does what it's suppose to do. Quote
RandyL Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 It is good but like any program that cleans the registry it's dangerous unless you know what you're doing. Just don't use the registry aspect of the program. The rest of it should be ok to use. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. RandyL Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 If you look at the pane on the left you will see "Registry" with an icon. If you click "Tools" on the left you will see the option to uninstall programs. I have yet to see a registry cleaner that didn't pick up items that could be potentially dangerous to remove. If you don't understand the registry you could end up disabling programs or worse still end up with a corrupt Windows. Besides I've never seen any benefit to it. Jelly Bean Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Are you able to reinstall the game then use CCleaner? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Plastic Nev Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Hi, There is an excellent uninstaller that we recommend, called "Revo uninstaller". If the program or game is still enough there to show, then Revo will find it, then uninstall it for you. You can download it and try it from here- Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download You can download the free version, which is the basic but still very good program, or try the pro version for 30 days, this reverts to the free version I think after the 30 days if you do not wish to part with any cash. Plastic Nev Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Great news, thanks for the feedback. I use the free version in all cases now to remove unwanted programs, even the free version hunts out and offers for removal, all the odd bits of the original that normally get left behind by the usual uninstallers.
