Dear All,

I have just installed a version of xp profesional on a new build pc.

Does windows come with basic drivers to operate the sound capabilities of the motherboard?

This computer is not directly connected to the internet so i want to know if there is anything i can do first, before having to move it to somewhere where there is internet.

Does XP come with it's own basic drivers for sound? or will the sound simply not work without the manufacturer's drivers?

thanks,

XP doesnt usaly come with basic sound, eithernet, wireless, blue tooth and possibly a few others.

You can go to the compter manufacturers website and under support tab input the computers make, operating system as required and it will give you the drivers to download.

You can download and save on another computer and transfer using a CD/DVD,USB pen drive, floppy or an external hard drive.

Hi, I just found this after answering your question in the "Software" section, please don't post in more than one place on the same subject, it gets confusing, both for us and eventually you.

A new build machine should have a complete set of drivers for the motherboard, and should have come with it if a home build, if not, then you would need to get them either from the board manufacturer direct on line, or the retailer who sold the board.

There will be other issues as well as sound, without the boards own drivers.

LOL yes annoying at times but this is done so that people can't go back and change or add information and so maintains the continuity of the thread,

but if you need to move or have something edited in a post or thread, the staff here are quite friendly and obliging if you PM them :)

If not a little slow at time's :p

lol somehow I have a feeling I will regret that comment

Hi, again, and quietly laughing here, but in seriousness, if in future this happens and you would like us to delete something for you, just click on my name, or any other staff member, on the left, a drop down panel appears, just select-

"Send a private message to ----"

That being the quickest way to let one of the staff know your request.

Anyway, back to this sound problem, have you got anywhere yet with the drivers issue?
