Hi, my friend has given me what he says is a working motherboard and processor out of a HP DC7600 convertible pc which i intend to instal in a standard ATX case, my problem is the front panel wiring on the case i have is seperate wires with pwrsw hdd led etc which im fine with but the motherboard seems to be a non standard type plug for the front panel wiring and theres no markings on it as to where to plug in.

Anyone have any ideas as to where to plug in the standard wires if it can even be done??

The original case was one of those small form factor ones and has long since been disposed of so no way to get a clue off that, ive tried doing a google search for a wiring diagram but with no joy

Thanks

Superb, front panel wiring sorted, machine fires up spot on now.....except coming up with a 918 front usb not connected & 917 front audio not connected.

The front usb's and front audio are connected & ive also tried the motherboard in a known perfect working order case so therefore it must be a motherboard fault??

Not that im bothered whether the front usb & audio works but before the pc will boot i have to press f1 to continue, is there anyway i can disable this so it just boots up without pressing f1, ive browsed through bios but cant see anything i think would help so left it well alone.

Any ideas?

Hi, Although the operating system or even the BIOS is coming up with the not connected message, have you tried anything in those sockets, say a memory stick in the USB port or headphones in the audio socket, do they work? or is there nothing from them at all?

If the latter, I suspect a MB fault.

Hi nev, yes did try a usb stick in the slot and external speakers in the audio ports but no joy so i think ill just accept the front panel just will not work and maybe see how annoying it becomes not having usable front usb, to be fair its likely to become a spare machine to be used mainly as a media centre so shouldnt be that important and when/if the mb gives up at least it was a freebie so its no big loss!

Thanks

you have to hardwire a new end on your power supply and rewire the atx ends when HP made the mobo and power supply they custom made them so no other power supply can work just hp sff dc7600 240w only, yes you can put in a 1200w power supply, you need to find out the wire code and change the wires around,I'm going to start making adapters just for the dc models as soon as I can figure out how to cross over the atx wires, from 24 pins stander to 24 mini pins, there not a adapter out there right now, but soon they WILL BE!!!!!
