Hi about 2 years ago i bought a nec pc everything has been going great with it not a single problem. Well the problem is now i cant use the memory card reader or headphone/mic sockets on the front of my pc. They have always worked in the past, i havent needed them for a couple of months but now when ive come to them nothing. Where as before i put a card in the slot the pc reads it not a problem now nothing doesnt even attempt to read them same with my headphones.

Ive gone into my computer where there used to be the list of drives eg the f, h ,g drives or what ever they were called now all ive got there is floppy disk drive A and DVD rw drive D

My pc uses vista home priemium 32 bit

Hi,

There is the possibility that the connectors have come loose, either through vibration or the pins of the connectors have become dirty.

Turn off the PC at the wall socket, but leave plugged in, then remove the cover. You should be able to see the wires or cables from the front sockets and where they plug onto the mother board. Remove and replace each, one at a time.

While the cover is off, have a look round, if there is any dirt and dust it will do it good to clean it out, use a small paint brush and blow it out, do not use a vacuum cleaner.

Also check round for any signs of burning, discoloured components, smell etc. If all seems OK, replace the cover and try again.
