Nor does it make any sense to buy into "old is always better" either.

Yeah, but Bill did a live satellite feed for the release of 5.0... and

I got a free t-shirt too.

Satellite feed? What the hell is satellite feed? I'm on dialup. Old

school values - patience.

No, you're right. But quite often, it IS.

Except there probably aren't Win9x/ME drivers for any of the new mobos. Oh

well, life moves on.

Went to a local hotel to watch a video feed that was sent via

satellite.

Did you hear that Lincoln got shot and died from the wound?

I can't remember now. I think that was too far back, and my memory ain't

what it used to be.

But 4.0 was a turkey ;-)

That's why there was a big hoopla when 5.0 was released.

At hotels in selected cities across the country, MS reps hosted big

get togethers where attendees could watch a live video feed on a huge

projection screen with Gates and someone else talking about the

features and demoing them on screen.

Afterwards, attendees could buy the new version and get a t-shirt

bragging about being at the release party.

As I recall: something froze on the computer being used for the demo

during that feed... which brought much laughter to the room.
