Files in \windows\installer folder

There are almost 5 gigs of files (including dozens of about 100MB each) in

the \Windows\Installer folder (XP Home, SP2). I moved some of the oldest

ones to another folder and everything seems to be running fine. The 100meg

files are all labelled "windows installer patch."

 

What are these and can they be deleted?

They can be safely deleted.
