DVD Creation Software Recommendation

I just bought a new computer and was looking for some DVD creation software. I have used Intervideo's software before and, ehhh, it's ok. Nothing terrible, nothing great (although they're offerings of Menus for the DVD is pretty crappy). Typically, I will take TV recorded in the Windows Media Center and make DVDs for my friends. I use the editor to edit out commercials from time to time, and find Intervideo a little tedious.

 

Periodically, I have used AnyDVD to make fair-use copies of my own DVDs. YES, really, I do... I don't give them away or anything.

 

Does anyone have suggestions on DVD creation software? Is the DVD maker on Windows Vista any good? I just assumed it was crappy, but never tried it (someone could probably convince me of the error of my ways).
