So I booted up my trusty M4 just like any other day, only to find the display full of artifacts or garbled text characters.

Not Good. Especially after just under 2 years' service, fortunately I have a 3 year warranty.

Fortunately for me the HDD is SATA so I can mount it on my desktop, back stuff up and format it for when it gets shipped off sometime this week.

I just hope I'll get it back by next Wednesday in time for the Launch event, otherwise I guess I'll have to commandeer the Sony Vaio currently acting as a PVR-slash-Projector driver.

Has anyone else got experiences with Toshiba's servicing division? My first M4 developed an (unrelated) problem in April 2006 so I sent it off for repairs, it never came back, after 3 months Toshiba issued me with this new one (upgraded to boot), but since I've got quite an investment with this M4 (incl. docking station and extra batteries) and the fact I'm happy with its specifications (esp. the GeForce 6600 built-in) I don't want to get a "new" one (all with yucky Intel GMA, blegh!).

If they can't/won't fix it, I'll demand a refund and get a ThinkPad.
