i have packard bell R1938 laptop running xp home sp3

i had formatted my laptop for reasons and installed drivers from PB site. but the wireless adaptor driver is not installing. I have tried ralink ( Ralink RT61 Wireless LAN drivers) and atheros from the site which said that thses are THE drivers, ralink does not work at all, (nothing happens) and when i try Atheros 5BMB5 Wireless network adapter driver, just about at finishing system hangs and i have to reboot and system restore. there is a wireless switch Fn+F1 to switch it on and off I have tried with both on and off. one thing i can not understand is the product information says ralink and product download says atheros. Ive tried PB support but they dont have a clue. any help will be much appretiated. thx

Atheros 5BMB5

Funnily enough I've had the same problem. The driver on the Packard Bell website just hangs. However, I have found that the Intel® PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adaptor works.

Lenovo Support & downloads - Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI adapter software for Windows 2000/XP - ThinkPad R40, R50, R50e, R50p, R51, T40, T40p, T41, T41p, T42, T42p, X31, X40
