RDP (Terminal Services)

Hi everyone, i wonder if anyone can help me with a problem i have with

TS on windows server 2003.

What i want to find out is if it is possible to change the behavior

when a second user tries to connect to the server when one user is

already logged on.

The box is limited to 1 login, but the problem is 2 or 3 people

administer the same box, and frequently log you off when your doing

something by connecting at the same time.

Does anyone know if it is possible to stop this behavior, or show some

warning to the logged in user before allowing someone else to connect

and effectively kick you off!

Any help much appreciated :)

Are they all using the same credentials? If they are, there's nothing you

can do - change that practice.

If they're not, I don't think this could happen as described.

And if this is really TS, and not Remote Desktop (which is just for admin

use) it would seem you don't have enough TS CALs.

I suggest you post future TS questions to

microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services.

Hi

As Lanwench says if it is Remote Desktop or Terminal Services Administration

mode (ie no TS CALs): you can have up to 2 admin users connecting

simultaneously on a 2k3 server without TS CALs.

If they are using the same credentials goto Terminal Services Configuration

(under Admin Tools) and check that restrict each user to one session is set

to No. If you need 3 concurrent users you will need TS CALs and to install

the application mode TS.

Hope it helps

Regards

Simon

Thanks for your tips guys, i actually managed to work itout in the end

as there was a KB available giving the details, just very very well

hidden.

Anyway, it is win2k3 server, and it is only being used for remote

administration, therefore you have the usual 2 user limit, plus one

for the console.

However, it is resolved by going into the tcp settings of the terminal

services, and setting maximum tcp connections to 1. so long as there

is no console logged on and there is only one user using it remotly it

works like a treat, and now if i am connected to the server and

another user tries to connect it simly denies them.

Which is the desired effect!

Thanks for your help nonetheless.
