Hello, last night I started a PC Recover on my Dell laptop, it was all going to plan and 75% complete then my grandson turned off my laptop.

I can no longer start it up, just keep getting error and told to press ctrl/alt/delete when I do this it just goes into a loop, I don't have the master disc

can you help?

Hi Alec.

This is the worse thing that can happen. Turning off a computer during a reinstall and no disks.

What is the loop? What is the error? Details please.

What is the model and model number of the Dell?

There might be a way to reinstall from the recovery partition but the members or staff would need more details.

At this point, it may be best to get in touch with Dell and ask for a disk, you will need the model number and also the service ticket number, you should find both on labels underneath.

You may have to pay for the disk, but it is not too expensive.

Unless someone else knows of a way round, I doubt that the recovery partition is now accessible.

Nev.

Only thing I can think of is pulling the disk out, connecting to another machine as a slave and running a check disk - might work, but failing that Nev's solution is the cheapest one.

Just this week I reloaded a Dell Inspiron 9300. It had XP Media Center. Customer didn't have the disk. I used one from another Dell and it worked just fine.
