Strange Dialup Behaviour

The dialup settings do not carry through a shutdown. I set up a new dialup

connect. Everything works as expected. I shutdown and restart. Dialup

connects but no program works, not IE7 or other browser, not Pegasus (Mail

program) or any other internet program. But if I set up a new dialup connect

and connect all is back to normal. The OS is XP Prof SP2 and up to date with

patches. I log on as administrator. The computer is an IBM (Lenovo)

Thinkcentre 8187 with 3GB memory. Any insight, pointers and/or advice will be

greatly appreciated.
