purplerain Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 When I right click the wireless connection icon and select "view available networks" I am unable to view the network as nothing is displayed. The OS is Win XP. Any suggestions pls? Quote
Jelly Bean Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Hello and welcome. Does your computer have a wireless card? Are there any wireless networks in range?Normaly a wireless card will only pick up a wireless router in the area not a WIFI connection. Do you have a wireless router in range? It may sound I am asking silly questions its because we need more information on your network setup and what you are trying to connect to. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Poconos Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 An option on most wireless routers is to turn off broadcast of the SSID (access point name) and some network display software will show nothing, as if there is no signal. Or, the name of the access point will display as UNKNOWN. I assume this is a laptop so take it to a very populated area and see if you can pick up any signals. Outside of a Hospital, apartment building, etc. Al Quote
