Guest GD Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Hi, I have a server box in a webhosting company. This server is used to host our websites(two asp.net applications currently). In the web applications, a simple email function is needed to send emails to the administrator of the apps. The administrator's email address should be like this: admin@applicationdomain.com. Thus, I need to create a few email accounts for retrieving emails from the web apps or any senders and sending emails from Outlook Express. My questions are: 1). Can this be done without installing Exchange Server? Or SMTP and Mail Server POP3 will do it? 2). If Exchange Server is not needed, what are the incoming mail server and outgoing server addresses if I setup an email account in Outlook Express. 3). What is your suggestion/recommendation? Thanks. GD

They will have an SMTP server you can use for sending email - just ask them for the details. For everything else, see http://www.systemnetmail.com/ Andrew
Guest GD Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Re: Recommendation needed for email function in a webhosting server Andrew, Thanks for quick reply. The webhosting service is cheap. They are not responsible for any email services. Is there any possibility that I can setup the email functions in the same server without Exchange Server? Thanks. Guest JohnB Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Re: Recommendation needed for email function in a webhosting server Just for clarification: your web hosting company does not include any email addresses? What about the company that you have your domain name registered with? Usually you'll get at least one address with either of those. Guest GD Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Re: Recommendation needed for email function in a webhosting server I mean that the hosting company doesn't allow the clients to use the hosting company's email server in client apps if the clients have installed their onwn dedicated servers in the hosting company.
