Simple Internet setup for SBS 2003?

Hi there,

About 3 years ago I dabbled with SBS 2003 on a new (cheap) Dell Poweredge

Dual Xeon box to replace an aging NT4 server in my home network.

Shortly after I decided that a fully fledged Domain server was overkill and

decided to remove it.

My home network of up to 7 PC's has functioned well but I now want to press

the Dell back into service.

It has 2 network cards (Server LAN Connection & Network Connection) and

static IP addresses preset and booted up as expected.

I do not want to go back to a Domain Client/Server setup but just want to

sit it on my home network to run a couple of things such as CCTV, storage &

backups etc.

I want to give it Internet access (which it never had before from the clean

SBS install) but when I click the IE icon a wizard opens (icw.exe) to

Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard including networking,

firewall, secure web site, DNS, FTP, VPN, Terminal Services etc. etc but

this seems to want to act as the main domain controller and host its own

domain.

It also asks for Web server name & certificate(?) which is where I grind to

a halt...

Is there a way to just give it simple network & Internet access without

going the whole hog?

Maybe I would be better off doing a clean XP install and fitting a decent

graphics card instead of using SBS 2003?

Thanks & regards,

Just configure its IP settings (default gateway, DNS address) the

same way as all your workstations.

Be advised that unless your SBS installation is completed and in comliance

the SBS requirements (one being a domain controller) then your server will

soon begin shutting down on it's own.
