Hello,

I'm having trouble with pink/green stripes trough my screen, I got my graphics card tested and it's fine, it's neither my power supply nor ventilation.

Here is a screen, I hope someone has experience with something like this:

I should also notice that I use Windows 7 x64 - Ultimate and that my PC is not infected. (The artefacts are not always visible)

Thank you in advance.

Yeah, it is a printscreen.

I have an Asus EAH5770 and do you mean my normal RAM? Should I use Memtest86 in order to test it?

Posted

Yes I mean your normal RAM you can run a Memtest on it but I would go for the remove one stick at a time method.

Memtest might throw up a fault but by removing one stick at a time you would then be able to eliminate any possibility of it being the RAM.

Hi,

As well as checking out the RAM as suggested by Match, and you have had the graphics card tested.

I know you may have tried this already as you said you have already tried other forums and got nowhere, but have you tried another monitor on this computer, or at least tried this monitor on another computer just to rule out any monitor issues.

Can you tell us when this problem first started, and are you sure as to whether there had been any changes, new programs installed etc, before this?

Also have you been inside the case and checked for loose connectors or plain poor connections by removing and replacing each plug or connector one at a time? (power off before doing that)

Just trying to find out what you have tried so far.

I have installed Windows, now how do I install the curtains? 😄

I'm pretty sure it's not my monitor, because I can make a printscreen of it.

I took out one 2GB bar from my setup (7GB: 2x2 and 2+1) and the artefacts seemed to disappear, because when I inserted it again, the artefacts came back. But I also tried removing the 1GB bar and I haven't seen any artefacts until now, so it seems the problem is that I have 7GB RAM, does anybody know about this? (Maybe a fix or something? It's probably the graphics card, because I didn't have artefacts with this same system and an other GPU)

OS: Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | GPU: Asus EAH5770

Edit: And I had the problems since I replaced my GPU.

I also ran the Windows RAM check and there were no problems found.

Now the 1GB bar is removed and I still get the artefacts, I didn't get them with the 2GB bar out, so now I'm going to test if it's the slot, because there were no problems found and I didn't get them with my previous GPU...

OK, thanks for the update, the 2GB stick removed stops the as you call them "artifacts" but may be confusing the issue.

I am like you a little suspicious now about the graphics card, although it was tested and seems OK, and it may well be OK, but it could be a compatibility problem with your mother board. So if possible try a different card before we go back to looking at that 2GB ram stick.

Thank you for the confirmation, I've sent an email to the shop where I got the GPU from, but I still didn't get a response, so I guess I'm waiting... :p
