windows socket version2

can anyone tell me what this is as i need to update it so that my security

software can download an update.

followed the link to the microsoft web site and it only has " socket version

2" for NT....

Did a general microsoft search for it and got loads of jargon....

Now i'm stuck and can,t update my security program
