IE8: Catastrophic failure

This error occurs sometimes when calling the IHTMLTxtRange::select method, but not always. So far I've not been able to find a pattern in when it does or doesn't throw this error.

 

In other circumstances (again so far I can't find the pattern), the select call succeeds but scrollIntoView doesn't seem to do anything (the text isn't scrolled into view, but the method also doesn't return an error message).

 

I can't really delve into it further right now*since I'm using IE on a virtual machine and haven't gotten a proper debugging environment set up.

 

In any case, anyone using my*FAYT should be warned: it doesn't work on IE8 beta 1.
