RandyL Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 The Flash components won't show the size just as you noted. If you did the version test and it worked all is well. You can also check it here. RandyL Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Judy as the others already said a lot of what you need is a matter of user choice. It depends on what you do with your computer, who uses it etc. The following is just my opinion. Outpost is a good firewall. I've tested it. Easy to configure but it's been a while. No Script is a firefox add-on. It adds a layer of security while browsing. It blocks javascript, java and flash applications from running unless you allow them to run. Youtube for instance. Personally I don't use it but it's just a choice issue. If you visit unsafe sites frequently it's good to have. :) ERUNT creates registry backups in case it becomes corrupted. Again it's a matter of choice but I just depend on System Restore for registry backup. WOT is a lot like Mcafee Site Advisor which I use. It warns you if you go to an unsafe site and let's you know if sites are safe in search engines like Google. Not a bad thing at all to have. Malwarebites free and Superantispyware free are good tools to periodically scan your computer for malware and remove it. Spywareblaster doesn't scan. It actually blocks in real time certain types of malware. It uses no resources and you will never even know that it's working. Just remember to manually update it once in a while. I do it once a month. As far as I'm concerned it's a must have tool. My opinions; Outpost-yes. Spywareblaster-yes. WOT or Mcafee Site advisor-yes No script-Yes if you visit dodgy sites. No if you don't like the hassle. ERUNT-No in most cases but it can't hurt. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted March 16, 2010 ExTS Admin Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) Hi Judy, If you do decide to go with the advanced Vista Firewall, here's what you need to do: When you get to the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security management interface. Click on 'Windows Firewall Properties': http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/wf1.png On the Domain Profile, use the drop down arrow to change the Firewall State to 'ON': http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/wf2.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/wf3.png Now click on the 'Private Profile tab and the Public Profile tab and do the same: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/wf4.png When finished, click on 'Apply: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/wf5.png Then click 'OK' to exit. Just to add something that RandyL stated: ERUNT creates registry backups in case it becomes corrupted. Again it's a matter of choice but I just depend on System Restore for registry backup. The problem facing a lot of people with malware problems, is that a lot of malware will actually turn off your System Restore or corrupt it. You won't know about this until you try to use it. Plus System Restore won't backup the whole registry. It all depends on how 'safe' you feel you want to be. Edited March 16, 2010 by Starbuck Quote Member of:UNITE

It does have a lot of graphics but before i did the stuff today i was able to get on both sites and yoville game. i can go on enternet explorerand it works ok the same as before. its the fire fox not sure if i did anything wrong Quote
ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted March 17, 2010 ExTS Admin Posted March 17, 2010 but for some reason now my face book or tag will not open the yoville game. Did you install 'No Script'? If you did, it sounds like you need to allow some scripts on those pages. Look for the 'No Script' icon at the bottom right on Firefox. ( an 'S' in a circle) Click on this and 'allow scripts' either temporary or permanently for that page. Then try again. Don't select 'allow scripts globally' that's like turning off No Script. Judy55 Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 i get a error code 732(12007,0)when i try to up date my malware bytes i can not up date it. can u help me thx judy Quote
ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted March 27, 2010 ExTS Admin Posted March 27, 2010 Hi Judy, Is this only happening on the one system? This could be due to 2 things: Your ISP may have a 'constant' connectivity problem - This can be a problem with Dial Up - Also if you are using a wireless router in the house for the 2 units, this will not help things (due to strength input drop) - Please keep updating with the one that seems to have better connections - The 732 (Malwarebytes) error is loss of, or lack of, constant connection during updates or usually lack of internet Explorer - The 12007,0 (Microsoft) error message occurs with wireless router connection problems. Try updating again. It could also be due to malware stopping the update, but let's go for the 1st solution first and then take it from there. Quote Member of:UNITE
Judy55 Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 I found some stuff about the error code i am getting on the malwarebytes I first uninstall it and reinstall it and i still get the error starbuck this is what i have found on a site about this error code not sure wht i need to do, should i get another kind of malware program to us ? Should I disable the firewall every time to update. No you need to set an exclusion in your Firewall for mbam. I'm fairly certain that these other programs also need to have the firewall told again to allow mbam. They probably have a signature for the old version and are not allowing the new version to bypass. Please double check and verify that your firewall is either OFF (many people think it is but it's not) and test again. We can assist you if needed but it will take time so I would double check and verify that the AV and Firewall is told again to allow the new versions of MBAM and test again. I'm having the same error problems as Grumpy, I even tried with no av or firewall. Please download the following files first. mbam-clean and the installer for Malwarebytes 1.45 then make sure you have the registration key and everything needed to re-install your Anti-Virus. Then disconnect from the Internet and fully uninstall your Anti-Virus and Firewall and reboot the computer. If it's Windows Vista or Windows 7 also disable the built-in firewall after the AV/Firewall removal as it will enable itself after that. Then uninstall MBAM and then run the mbam-clean tool and reboot. Then install MBAM and register it if its the paid Pro version. Then connect back to the Internet and start MBAM, go to the UPDATE tab and click on the "check for updates" button. Let me know if you're still having trouble updating or not. Download the required files first and save them. Then run the following while your connection to the Internet is disabled. Only connect back when ready to check for updates. Windows Vista and Windows 7: •Click on the Start button and select Control Panel •Click on Programs and Features •Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware •Restart your computer very important•Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here •It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important•After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here Quote

ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted April 1, 2010 ExTS Admin Posted April 1, 2010 Hi Judy, Seems a lot of people are having problems with the new version of MBAM. Here's the link to the whole forum: Malwarebytes Forum -> General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum did you read this part: Within your firewalls you have a Trusted Zone for inputting IP addresses. Typically you might have exclusions for the LAN IP like 192.168.1.XXX You will need to allow the Malwarebytes update site (data-cdn.mbamupdates.com) to connect externally. IP Addy is 208.111.128.6 Norton or Symantec has a tab under the Firewall Client which you can configure the Network Trust / Restrict. Hope this helps. I'm back in biz. If your still having problems then you will have to verify the website IP address by looking thru the firewall logs to find a reference for "data-cdn.mbamupdates.com" it should give you a corresponding IP address that will need to be added to your network exclusions in the firewall settings. I have MBAM on 3 systems and have had no problems with the new version.......... yet! Quote Member of:UNITE
