Hi folks, I really hope someone can help me here as I am totally stumped...

Got a new rig, Intel E7500 on a Foxcomm board, and it came with an Inno 3D 9400GT card. (which works fine).

I want to pop in my new Inno 3D 240GT nvidia... and when I do, the machine refuses to boot into windows 7 (32 bit Ultimate)

Now, firstly, I found a BIOS update that cured the first problem - the moment the pc went into any graphical bit at all - like the Windows loading scren, it would just die. The BIOS fixed that problem - but will now not boot into Windows after loading.

The card is fine as it was running in an AMD machine just yesterday. Oddly, the card WILL boot into Safemode quite happily, and also into normal Windows if I have removed the drivers. I was hoping it was an odd driver issue, but I have tried two other versions, (the latest one 196.75, and an earlier 191 version) and have exactly the same result.

Like I say, the original Inno 3D 9400GT works no problem. I fail to see what could possibly stop a slightly higher card from running - it's driving me daft :|

The PSU is the ONLY possible issue - it is a lowly 450w, however it has run the exact same card on the AMD (4800+ 64bit X2) with zero issues.

Is there something I have overlooked... I will provide more specs if needed, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious.

Ok, just an update... I duno what's going on now... I tried Windows XP, just to see what would happen. It loads in ok... but then when the windows desktop comes up, it's all messed up. As in, colours are mainly purples and blue, the mouse cursor is just a mash of pixels.. basically all the graphical bits are corrupted.

I am definitely starting to think the PSU isn't juicy enough... but could it be something else before I go down that route?

Where you get blurred images/colours on the screen its normally the GPU itself and in particular the RAM on the GPU.

Some things to check:-

Do the PCIE 6/8 pin connectors come directly from the PSU or are you using 2x molex converted into one 6/8 pin PCIE connector (if this is the case make sure nothing is on the same path from the PSU eg dont use fan pass throughs or molex splitters)

Is the GPU seated correctly?

BIOS reset?

Resolution of monitor set to native?

Intel Q6600 @ 4Ghz (Watercooled)

Asus P5K premium black pearl

4GB OCZ Reaper 8500

260GTX
