Hi wolffadez, computer users forgeting their passwords is an all to common thing to happen. Sadly for you, you will find that most PC help forums ( including this one) the forum rules state that we are not allowed to offer any real help in retrieving your forgotten password.

The reason for this is that if a computer is stolen, then the thief often needs help in getting into the computer. I'm not suggesting that you have stolen your computer...but it does happen!

It's not clear from your question if the forgotten password is a user password who is a computer administrator. Or if it's the windows administrator account that you are unable to access. (These are two seperate accounts) People can use a computer for years and not realise that there is another administrator account that is not normally seen by the user.

My advice would be that you can find how to access each type of account by googling your question. I'm sorry that I cannot help you any more than that.

Good luck...

I thought I knew today...I'll try again tomorrow. :)

To follow on from everything PseFrank said, we normally do not advise on password issues and for the reasons Frank said. However I have asked Admin for some guidance, as I feel there may be some help we could give considering the circumstances of you suffering a stroke.

Please bear with us till we can give you some answers.

However what I can offer is that considering you can get into it as a guest, can you access all the stuff there is on it? if so you can transfer it to either disks, flash drive memory, an external hard drive, or even another computer. Once that is done the only thing left would be a complete reformat and re installation of the operating system.

Nev.

Hi wolfadez

you can format your computer by setting your PC to boot from dvd first and inserting a windows system disk.

you will have to press any key to boot from cd when prompted and once its loaded select install and you should then get the option to format the drive. before installing.

as for your sound if the XP disk you have doesn't have the drivers if you can tell us the make and model of your pc then I'm sure someone can point you in the direction of the manufacturers support site where you can get the correct ones.

Without asking which Bios you have, and that probably wouldn't help much, this is the best explanation I can find, or come up with, without spending a week creating my own.
