Notified of this update 3/12/08. Have installed it at least 12 times - its

says it was successfully installed and then a minute later I'm notified of

this update again and it wants to be installed again, and again before I turn

off Windows and on and on. Is there some way to make the madness stop?

Download the update file to your desktop and then doubleclick it to install.

That has worked for me in the past.

Thanks Colin - but I don't see an option of where to download the update.

The only choice I see is 'install' or wait until later.

Use IE to go to the Windows Update site (Tools/Windows Update), and do

your installing from there.

Much less problems.

Try the Microsoft Download Center:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/

specifically:

Actually this one is a known issue.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941729/

Next time search microsoft.com on "kbxxxxxxx" and you will find the download

link or a fix like this one.

Thank you Colin and Nil - the location given by Nil provides the solution and

the search suggested by Colin will get you to that location. And I'd like

to thank Microsoft for providing a problem that took two hours out of my life

to solve. I believe the true solution is to go back to lives that don't

involve Microsoft at all.
