internet explorer fails to start up

I have started having a problem with internet explorer not appearing after i

double click the icon. When i open process explorer it shows that its running

but its not there for me to see.When i reboot the machine everything is fine

and it shows up on screen for at least 2 times before it starts to act up

again. I run windows XP with sp2 and this problem just started in the last

month.

IE version?

 

Is the machine fully patched at Windows Update?

 

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What

anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall

(if any)?

Thank you for your help. I run IE6 and it was a program called spybot that

was the cause of the problem.
