We have a 2005 Dell Dimension 5150 which is still giving sterling service, but we have at last decided to replace our old CRT monitor with a 20” Acer X203HB LCD monitor with a 1600 x 900 specification.

When I set the display properties in the control panel. The maximum I can set the screen resolution to is 1280 x 720 pixels which is obviously below the maximum capability of the screen – I believe our computer just has graphics built into the motherboard and uses the Intel 82945G Express Chipset family driver running XP SP3.

We don’t play games and rarely watch films on the computer – is it worth / possible to buy a graphics or other card that would be compatible with the computer, and would this show a great deal of difference in the quality of the image displayed ?

Your advice would be appreciated

There are 3 drivers - all the same as follows:

"Plug & Play Monitor"

Device Type: Monitors

Manufactuer: (Standard monitor types)

Location: on Intel® 82945G Express Chipset Family

Microsoft 6/6/01 V: 5.1.2001.0 Microsoft Windows Component Publisher

Hope this helps
