jwalter Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I just checked the link that you provided and I'm quite amazed by the news. I had heard of such instances but wasn't sure about the genuineness of the talks. These mails are such that anyone would open and download the files. I think that the scams of this kind are getting bolder and bolder every day and causing a greater threat to the security of the people. We need to be more careful while accessing the mails of these kinds, this is the only way out as of now. Quote
Tootech Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I received that very same email - quite convincing and looks like it is from the Facebook team. Hopefully all A/V programs will pick it up and delete it on sight! Quote
RandyL Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 I'm up for a good game. If I get it I'll see how good my security is and open it. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS ANYONE ELSE. ExTS Admin Starbuck Posted March 18, 2010 ExTS Admin Posted March 18, 2010 Beware the new Facebook password reset scam If you get an e-mail that appears to be from Facebook saying the company reset your password and urging you to open an attachment, it is a scam. Repeat, it is a scam. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v708/starbuck50/facebook.png The attachment contains a password stealer that can potentially access any username and password combination used on the computer, not just the login credentials for Facebook. There are obvious clues that this is a phishing scam. For one, Facebook doesn't send e-mails like this. It may send an e-mail with a link where the user can reset the password, but not an e-mail with an attachment. Secondly, the e-mail has poor grammar and awkward phrases. For instance, Facebook is not capitalized in the salutation. Beware the new Facebook password reset scam | InSecurity Complex - CNET News Quote Member of:UNITE
