system restore crashes

I upgraded to a larger hard disk, using WD's file copier to clone the old

disk to the new one. Everything seems to work, except for this.

In My Computer/Properties, if I click on the System Restore tab, System

Properties crashes. rundll32.exe freezes up and cannot be killed. I have to

restart the computer.

Did a dll get corrupted? Which one? How can I fix this?

Win XP Pro.

Re: system restore crashes

what you need to do

is to utilize a windows

setup cd and perform

a "repair installation"

to resynchronize the

system files to your

new hardware.

the repair will also

delete the old and

outdated restore points

and create a brand new

restore point that is

accurate to your new

configuration.

Re: system restore crashes

That did the trick. Thanks!

How in the world does anyone know about that kind of stuff? It would have

taken me forever to find that on my own.

Re: system restore crashes

Thanks for your response. I fixed it by reinstalling only System Restore.
