Uninstalling Vista & Reinstalling XP - Help!

Hi,

I have a Mitac 8080 laptop that originally had XP professional installed from new. I latter installed Vista but realise it is taking up too much memory.

I have a new XP disc with licence and want to take vista off but don’t know how to do this.

I do not have room to partition the c drive.

Can anyone help?

hi set the laptop to boot up from cd insert your xp disk and boot up whn set up starts select the drive with the current operating system on it it will then reformat and install xp , hope this helps

I have tried this but the computer will not let me change the boot order.

 

I cannot seem to get this option when starting up.

 

Do you know what key I need to pess when it starts up?

Additional Note:

 

I have now created a partition and formatted it. It has 726 MB memory and NTFS.

 

I hope to install XP on this partition and change the boot order to start from this volume.

 

If this works perhaps I hope I can delete the old volume with Vista on.

 

Please let me know if this is not going to work as I am trying everything I can think of at the moment!!

press either del or f2 to get into bios and change the boot order there Kathi

i wouldn't install xp on a partition thaat small kathi
